Church Year 2025-2026

Advent through the last Sunday of the church year.

Liturgical Colors & Traditional Meanings
🖤
Black
Used on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, black signifies mourning and reflection on the cost of redemption.
💙
Blue
Symbolizes hope and expectation as the church prepares for the coming of Christ.
💛
Gold
An optional color representing value and glory, often used on special occasions such as Easter Sunday and Christ the King Sunday.
💚
Green
Represents growth and life. It is the color of the season after Pentecost and is used during the Epiphany season, symbolizing the growth of the church.
💜
Purple/Violet
A color of penitence and preparation, used during Advent and Lent. It signifies a time of reflection and preparation for the coming of Christ.
❤️
Red/Crimson
Symbolizes the blood of Christ and the fire of the Holy Spirit. It is used on Pentecost, Reformation Day, and during Holy Week from Palm Sunday to Maundy Thursday.
🤍
White
Represents purity, joy, and the light of Christ. It is used during the Christmas season, Easter, and on festivals such as Christ the King Sunday.
Liturgical colors play a crucial role in the worship experience, helping to communicate the themes of the
church year and enhancing the worship environment.
Each color is chosen to reflect the specific message of the season or festival, guiding the congregation’s
understanding and engagement with the liturgical calendar.
The use of these colors is not merely decorative; it serves to deepen the worship experience and connect the
congregation with the broader narrative of salvation history.
