0:54	Holy Spirit teaching them to observe the all that I have commanded you and behold I Am With You Always even to the End of
1:01	the Age this is the gospel of the Lord grace mercy and peace to you from God the Father Son and Holy Spirit you may
1:07	be seated in the name of Jesus as it was in the beginning is now and
1:14	will be forever amen those should sound like familiar words to you right and
1:20	you’re going to know that’s going to be an important aspect of what we’re looking at in our text today as it was
1:25	in the beginning we read in Our Gospel text that all authority in heaven on Earth has now been given to Christ and
1:31	Christ is given the command to go and make disciples of all Nations now a
1:37	disciple is a learner and I don’t think Jesus is basically saying go and set up Christian Schools that’s not the point
1:44	of the Great Commission the Great Commission is to go and make disciples baptizing them and listen to what it
1:50	says in the name singular of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit
1:56	why make disciples by baptizing why make disciples by teaching everything that
2:02	all that Christ has commanded them the reason why is because of everything that we just said at the beginning as it was
2:09	in the beginning is now and will be forever amen the Great Commission and now the falling of the Holy Spirit upon
2:15	the church on the day of Pentecost as we pick up the second half of the preaching of the Apostle Peter it’s all about the
2:22	Trinity’s great rescue plan we need rescuing and if you think it’s
2:30	not as bad as all of that you don’t know what you’re talking about Sin is not
2:36	your friend my friends sin is something that is horrible it’s absolutely
2:41	destructive it has robbed us of the great good things that God created in
2:46	the beginning I think of the book The Voyage of the Don tretter women in the women’s Bible study will note I’ve made reference to
2:53	this yesterday why because it was sitting on my lips because in my thoughts I was working out my sermon but
3:00	in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader there is a kid whose name is Eustace scrub
3:05	Eustis rhymes with useless and boy is this a useless miserable awful character
3:12	all right if you know the story of The Chronicles of Narnia you had the Four Kings and Queens of Narnia you know you
3:19	had Peter and Edmund Susan and Lucy well they had to keep coming back to our
3:26	planet here and on one particular occasion the story of The Voyage of the non-trader they were visiting a family
3:32	relative Eustis is more than just a a family friend he’s a relation if you
3:38	would and what a miserable entitled complete know-it-all arrogant ah awful
3:44	character I wish I could say I’ve never met anybody like him but I have right and so C.S Lewis goes way out of his way
3:53	to make him the most unlikable creature on planet Earth and as The Story Goes uh
3:59	Lucy and Edmund find themselves coming back to Narnia through magic of a
4:04	painting of the of the Dawn Treader and Eustis gets dragged along for the adventure and boy does he cry and whine
4:13	and complain and all this kind of stuff but in one particular thing that happens in the story of The Voyage of the Dawn
4:20	Treader they find an island and they’re out exploring the island and Eustis is by
4:26	himself and comes across a dragon’s treasure and of course he wouldn’t know this because he’s never been to Narnia
4:33	before and no one has taken the time to explain to him how the ropes work in a magical world dragons Treasures usually
4:40	have curses not a good thing to steal them otherwise things might happen to you poorly and so he steals a piece of a
4:47	dragon treasure puts it on it’s a it’s a golden arm band puts it on his arm and next thing you know he wakes up and he
4:54	is now a dragon it’s kind of funny I’m sitting there
4:59	going yeah about time something awful happened to this kid he’s got his comeuppance but Lewis was at work here
5:06	doing something important for all of us because everything in the CR in the Chronicles Narnia is allegory it has a
5:13	spiritual meaning he’s trying to teach us something about our sin and our
5:19	savior and poor Eustis now begins to look like the miserable wretch that he
5:24	is he’s a terrible Dragon he’s not very good at it and laments the fact that he is no longer a human being but as the
5:31	story goes he’s eventually redeemed but the Cure is not that great of a cure
5:38	because as the details go Eustis undergoes a baptism of sorts but the
5:44	character who plays the role of Christ in the Dawn Treader and in The Chronicles of Narnia is the great lion
5:49	Aslan and Aslan has to help remove eustace’s dragon skin which required
5:57	Aslan to take his Claws and dig them in to the dragon skin and rip them off rip
6:03	it off of Eustace painful uncomfortable indeed
6:09	but is it not the same with us the Great
6:15	the great Rescue Mission of the Trinity God the Father God the
6:20	son God the Holy Spirit has been in progress for a long time
6:25	we are only the latest generation to have the gospel reach us the good news
6:31	of the Forgiveness of sins one by Jesus Christ and Christ commands everybody
6:37	everywhere every time I say it like that I think of that line from from uh from
6:42	Back to the Future everybody everywhere is going to say that Clint Eastwood’s the biggest yellow belly in the west right but everybody everywhere is to be
6:51	did you hear the gospel they are to repent of their sins and they are to trust in Jesus Christ for the
6:57	Forgiveness of their sins and that is salvation having come to us but
7:04	Salvation from what look at yourself look at the world
7:10	look at the wake of Destruction that is following behind you because of your sin and you’ll notice you get older the Wake
7:17	gets longer the destruction at times can even become more severe just look at how
7:23	you lament how you do not love God with all of your heart and look how poorly you treat each other
7:28	how do I know this I hang out with you guys but but note this
7:34	all right you’ll note that I I’m not much better than y’all in fact I have to confess my
7:40	sins with you each and every Sunday right sin is not our friend sin is a terrible consequence and this world is a
7:46	mess and it’s falling apart I’ve noticed that the hurricane season has already
7:52	begun and all I can say is every time I see one of those things you know on a satellite view I sit there and go well
7:57	there’s another one of God’s Little judgments like a baseball coming in high fastball and who’s going to end up
8:03	having their life upturned and destruction or lose their life as a result of these events and yet
8:08	they happen year after year after year after year but it wasn’t always this way
8:14	when we talk about salvation as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever amen isn’t that the whole point
8:22	of our opening text it’s to tell us to reveal to us something that we have no
8:30	memory of a world that is good
8:35	a world that is amazing and beautiful where there is no death or disease where
8:42	there is no there are no broken bones broken relationships
8:47	struck destroyed bodies and sicknesses and things like this a world that God created that was good but here’s the
8:54	thing the goodness of the creation that we see as God unpacks as he over six
9:00	days creates the world and yes by the way it was six days if you’re thinking
9:06	well what about that Evolution thing Mr Darwin is now a creationist you just need to know this he has been ever since
9:11	his death right he knows the truth and Mr Darwin’s theory is running on hard
9:17	times with the new Sciences related to DNA keep that in mind God here reveals
9:23	to us a reality that we are not aware of but it’s reality nonetheless I recently
9:31	saw on Twitter I watched a movie on Twitter this week can you believe that the the Matt Walsh movie uh you know
9:37	what is a woman they made it available for free on Twitter and it was a little hard to find a Twitter seemed to you
9:44	know bury it and sandbag it but I was able to watch it this week and one of the things that has struck me in
9:49	watching this is that sin makes us dare I say it stupid
9:57	just legitimately stupid Matt Walsh asking person after person what is a
10:04	woman all right gender studies professors and people like this being offended by the question like literally
10:11	rallying to toss their cookies and throw fists for having the question ask them but each of the answers pretty much
10:16	amounted to this right what is a woman but that’s the answer right but over and
10:24	again you heard from the people who were buying into you can be whatever you want to be they’ve talked in this term
10:32	we need to recognize that different people have different truths
10:38	right there’s your truth and then there’s my truth and so Matt Walsh would ask a question based upon what reality
10:45	and they would say well that’s your truth and and and and you need to be careful because your words are very
10:51	weaponized there I I’m detecting a bad attitude right and so we live in a world
10:57	where sin causes us to live in complete and utter fantasy
11:02	that there’s this thing called My Truth well what may be true for you well it’s not true for me because my truth tells
11:09	me that I am well um skinny yeah
11:15	that’s what my truth tells me I have six pack abs and Arnold Schwarzenegger is
11:21	intimidated by my manliness when I’m in his presence that’s my truth yeah
11:26	right why aren’t you guys buying this
11:31	right but there is a thing called reality
11:37	and reality is the truth Christ is the truth God’s word is truth
11:43	the Holy Spirit whom he sends on Pentecost is the spirit of Truth
11:49	so let me tell you again the truth of how we came to be here and it has
11:56	nothing to do with lightning striking some primordial oohs creating amoebas
12:01	that then jumped onto the shore climbed up a tree became apes and then fell out of the tree as human beings has nothing
12:07	to do with that where we came from is far better than that and it’s important to note if we’re
12:13	talking about salvation you want a picture of what we are being saved to
12:19	what’s the Terminus of all of this as it was in the beginning is now and will be
12:25	forever it says these words in the opening of our Old Testament text
12:33	in the beginning God he created the heavens and the Earth the Earth was
12:40	without form and void Darkness was over the face of the to home and the ruachim was Medica fetting over the face of the
12:47	waters and God said let there be light and there was light
12:54	and God saw that the light was good
13:00	you’re going to hear that word throughout this text good the Hebrew
13:06	word is Tove and God saw that the light was tov
13:12	if I were to ask you how you’re doing today in Hebrew right right how are you today you might
13:19	respond I’m good right if you’re doing really good you’d say and now if you’re doing okay though yeah
13:27	yeah it’s okay right but here and again we hear that everything created that God
13:33	created was good why because God the Father God the son God the holy spirit
13:40	is good don’t let the devil and those who are listening to the lies of Satan fool you
13:46	God is not a tyrant he’s not a meanie poopy head in the sky who’s going to throw lightning bolts at you if you
13:52	disobey his commands he has given his commands in order to save us because sin
13:59	is something awful the consequences of it are devastating it’s not good
14:06	that we are separated from God separated from each other and face death as the
14:11	right consequence of our sin here it says God created these things and everything he created was
14:17	tov it was good and here then we learn over the course of six solar days or are they
14:26	real solar days yeah otherwise it doesn’t make any sense there was evening
14:31	and there was mourning the first day Jesus affirms this account in the Book
14:37	of Genesis as being God’s word and how it went down if you disagree with Jesus
14:43	regarding this that’s not a good way for a disciple to behave
14:48	right Christ affirms The Creation he affirms Adam and Eve affirms that we were made in the image of God male and
14:54	female he affirms that Abel was was killed by Cain and that this the account
15:00	that we have in the Book of Genesis is actual history but sin makes us stupid and a lot of
15:06	people who call themselves Christian feel the pressure to bend the knee to the latest mythologies relating to how
15:12	we came about I think about Andy Stanley he recently preached on uh on creation
15:18	and his ex explanation as to why Genesis 1 2 and 3 exist is because
15:25	Humanity at the time this was written was too stupid to understand the concept
15:30	of evolution and so you know how when you talk to your three-year-old and the three-year-old asks you Mommy where do
15:37	babies come from right when they’re three years old you might say something like well there’s a stork that flies
15:43	around and drops babies in in chimneys kind of like Santa Claus right please don’t do that with your kids by the way
15:49	please don’t do that but yeah but his his explanation for why we have Genesis
15:54	1 here in this creation account is because when this was written Humanity was the equivalent of a three-year-old
16:00	they weren’t ready for the meat of evolution so the just needed to be reassured that we were created but the
16:07	mechanism is never described he doesn’t just believe the mechanism but the book
16:13	of Hebrews is very clear that we were created by the word of God
16:20	that was the mechanism by which the universe itself was made and as a result
16:25	of it we are unwise and acting as very Unfaithful disciples when we sit there
16:30	and go well it didn’t really happen this way really were you there because I know a guy who was there his
16:38	name is Jesus Christ he is God in human flesh and he says that this is how it
16:44	went down and by the way he rose bodily from the grave three days after he was crucified by the Roman soldier by Roman
16:52	soldiers under the orders of Pontius Pilate what are your credentials were you there when this happened have
17:00	you risen from the dead if you’re going to contradict Jesus I want you to prove to me that you have the right to do so
17:06	and that your opinion should carry as much weight as Jesus is and so as soon as you die and Rise three days after
17:13	you’ve been dead I’ll begin to listen to you regarding where we came from
17:19	until then in the words of Dr Evil zip it
17:25	right that’s what you should do if we Christians I have no right to contradict Christ
17:31	but as we read through this account then oh it’s just such an amazing picture of
17:38	what God has done moving on to the third day it says that God said let the waters
17:45	under the heavens be gathered together into one place and let dry land appear and it was so and God called the dry
17:52	Earth here in the Hebrew It’s a Wonderful word we say Earth in English but it makes me
17:59	wonder is Hebrew the original language of humanity right if it is then the name
18:04	of our planet isn’t Earth
18:22	fortunately
18:35	that’ll work so the point that I was making is this
18:40	is if Hebrew is the original language of humanity if that’s what Adam and Eve spoke then the name of our planet is at
18:48	its it’s an interesting name but you have to roll your r’s when you say it you gotta kind of do that thing we
18:55	English speakers don’t do that very well so called the dry land at it and it was
19:00	so the Earth edits brought forth vegetation plants yielding seed according to their own kinds trees
19:07	bearing fruit and which is their seed each according to its kind God saw that it was Tove good and then there was
19:15	evening and there was morning the third day God said let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens you’ll note that
19:21	God created light before he created the Sun the moon and the stars and the atheists look at this and go well see that’s proof that this account is just
19:27	silly really you really know how things go right you’ll note that eventually God
19:33	will create the Sun the moon and the stars and the planets and all these things and then assign light to them
19:41	but you see the fact that God is light and in him there is no Darkness these
19:46	are mysteries in the creation that we should take into consideration rather than thinking we know like used to scrub
19:52	how the world Works in reality we don’t God said let there be lights in the
19:58	expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night let them be for signs and for seasons for days and for years
20:05	let them let them be lights in the expanse of the Heavens to give light upon the Earth and When God Says
20:11	something’s going to happen guess what it happens and it was so God made the two great lights the greater light to
20:17	Rule the Day the Lesser light to rule the night and he also made the Stars God set them in the expanse of the Heavens
20:22	to give light on the earth to rule over the day and over the night and to separate the light from the darkness and
20:28	God saw that it was good Tove and there was evening
20:33	and there was morning the fourth day and then God said let the waters swarm
20:39	with swarms of living creatures and let birds fly above the Earth across the
20:45	expanse of the heavens you know one of the things I I enjoy you guys remember winter it was only just a couple weeks
20:52	ago right that we still had snow on the ground right but one of the things I really enjoy is now that the snow is
20:59	melted and the trees have finally put their leaves out and things are blooming and happening have you noticed when the
21:06	birds start singing in the morning if they don’t wait until the sun comes
21:12	up about an hour before the sun comes up it sounds like a tropical rainforest
21:18	outside in my yard those things are squawking and chirping and talking and yipping and yapping and it’s just an
21:26	amazing thing to do sometimes I’ll actually turn the fan off in my window and just sit there in the coolness of
21:33	the dark still and listen to the sound it’s an amazing sound
21:38	one of the things I recently read about was how beneficial birds are
21:45	to plants I had never considered this I remember my mother-in-law when I before she was my mother-in-law she was my
21:51	girlfriend’s mother but my mother-in-law back in the day she used to play plant
21:56	music music to her plants and swear on a stack of Bibles that it had beneficial
22:02	impact on her plants by playing music to them and I’m thinking lady you’re nuts that’s just the goofiest thing that I
22:09	have ever heard in my life and then this week I read an article and
22:15	they are scientific peer-reviewed studies now that have shown the beneficial benefits of plants and music
22:22	and then goes on to say that the birds initially are the ones who have the
22:27	greatest benefit on the plants them singing their morning songs and doing their chirping has a positive impact on
22:36	your flowers on your trees and on your vegetables and things like this and I
22:41	thought oh no I owe my mother-in-law an apology decades ago I thought she was a loon
22:48	turns out she knew what she was talking about right and so you’ll note that right after God creates vegetation he creates
22:55	fishies and he creates birds and everything is intertwined and it all works together and one of the things I
23:02	love is animals we recently had to put down our dog Luther sad to see him go but that’s the thing I’ve kind of gotten
23:09	to the point where I don’t know if I ever want another pet because I keep outliving them and it’s really sad to to
23:16	be parted from such a faithful companion and a good dog that he was and so to
23:22	comfort myself I from time to time is like to watch those videos by the dodo have you ever seen those little cat
23:28	rescue videos and stuff like this always love it when they find like a group of kittens like there was a guy walking
23:34	down a road in the middle of nowhere and this tiny little kitten comes out and then there’s like no mother cat around
23:40	and the kitten’s like mewing save me save me and so the guy picks it up and then the next thing you know six and
23:46	seven of its little brothers and sisters come running out and he’s got a whole herd of cats following him and I just
23:51	sit there and go oh this is the cutest thing ever right and you want to see what happens to them and stuff like this
23:57	you see the animals are a great blessing and we were originally to be the ones
24:03	who stewarded them and would have done so exactly the way God has done so when we read about this account think about
24:09	all the good that still does exist but not as as it should be as it was in the
24:15	beginning and you begin to see again just how good Tove God is God created the sea
24:23	creatures every living creature that moves with which what the water swarm according to their kinds every Winged
24:28	Bird according to its kind and God saw that it was Tove
24:34	good God blessed them saying be fruitful multiply fill the waters in the Seas let
24:40	Birds multiply on the Earth and there was evening and there was
24:45	morning the fifth day how many species of animals now are extinct
24:54	how many animals have we never seen because we’ve hunted them and killed
25:00	them into Extinction the list keeps growing by the way
25:06	then God said let the Earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds livestock creeping things if you
25:12	want to know what a creeping thing is think of beetles and things like this and ants and bugs and mice and Little
25:17	Critters and things that kind of stay close to the ground I believe that spiders probably came into existence
25:23	after the fall that that only makes sense because they are nightmarish Little
25:29	Creatures anyway and they never survive once I see them in my house but all of that being said
25:34	so the beasts of the Earth according to their kinds livestock creeping things Beasts of the Earth according to their
25:39	kinds and it was so God made the beasts of the Earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their
25:44	kinds everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind and God saw that it was
25:50	tov good and now in verse 26 the Father the Son
25:58	and the Holy Spirit have discussion among themselves we believe in one God three persons Father
26:04	Son and Holy Spirit they speak to each other they love each other
26:11	the Holy Spirit proceeds from the father and the son the son is the only begotten son of the Father the father is
26:17	uncreated and unbegotten and yet they are all one God and now Father Son and
26:22	Holy Spirit Come Together and the crowning achievement of humanity
26:28	of his creation is Humanity let us make man in our
26:33	image now who’s made in the image of God is it men or women
26:38	the answer is both right after our likeness let them have dominion over the
26:44	fish of the sea over the birds of the heavens and over the livestocking over all the Earth and over every creeping
26:49	thing that creeps on the earth so God created man in his own image in the image of God he created him male and
26:56	female he created them men and women both are made in the image
27:02	of God and you’ll note this is a beautiful picture of an idyllic Planet Paradise is
27:10	is often how it is described that’s what the original Earth was and the note here
27:17	um God blesses man and wife he says God said to them be fruitful multiply fill
27:23	the Earth subdue it have dominion over the fish of the sea over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing
27:28	that moves on the earth and God said this watch this watch where the food comes from
27:34	it’s important behold I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all
27:42	the Earth and every tree with seed in its fruit you shall have them for food
27:49	we were vegetarians initially
27:56	you’ll know what is your refrigerator I want you to think about it for a second in my refrigerator we have a
28:03	freezer portion we have a cold portion and my wife goes to the store and when she goes to l m Meats the meat ends up
28:09	in my refrigerator what is it it’s kind of like a morgue
28:14	right everything that I eat has died right
28:20	it’s a it’s a little box of Horrors if you think about it but that’s not how it
28:27	was originally intended God originally intended the Earth that we would eat
28:34	fruit and vegetables living fruit and vegetables and things like this not the
28:41	morgue thing that’s in my refrigerator right think about it okay the difference
28:46	between life and death comes into play what about the animals and to every
28:52	beast of the Earth to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth
28:57	everything that has the breath of life I have given every green plant for food now here’s an important note I’m pretty
29:04	sure Bible scholars will agree with my interpretation here that God originally
29:09	intended for kale only to be eaten by animals okay I just want to make that clear okay
29:15	I’m sure that this is a Godly interpretation just have to insert this okay but you’re going to note here the
29:23	animals what were they given for food at the creation plants
29:30	is it any wonder that in the prophet Isaiah in that beautiful picture at the end of Isaiah of the new Earth
29:37	you have a lion laying down with a lamb or wolf laying down with a lamb and
29:42	everything including tigers and bears and lions they’re all eating grass
29:50	isn’t that exactly how it was in the beginning consider the implication God gave food
29:56	for every creature not that they would eat each other Marlin Perkins and his
30:01	Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom shows have which traumatized me when I was a kid then while never again in the new
30:08	Earth have to see it a crocodile eat a caribou okay it’s a terrible thing if
30:13	you’ve never seen it don’t Google it it’s awful to watch or to watch a lion capture a gazelle and watch it die it’s
30:21	just awful but that’s not how it was originally intended to be
30:27	everything ate these plants and so it says it was so
30:33	and then God saw everything that he had made and then listened to the words and behold it was
30:43	very good
30:49	but is it very good now no it’s not
30:55	it’s just not this is what sin has done to us but God hasn’t rested on his Laurels
31:03	although he took the day off on the Sabbath the seventh day God has not
31:08	rested he has put himself into The Fray he’s done something in order to rescue
31:14	us from sin death and the devil and the consequences of our Rebellion against
31:21	him Christ says again in Our Gospel text go therefore Make Disciples of all
31:26	Nations baptizing them in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that
31:32	I have commanded you and behold I Am With You Always even to the end of the age and so from the time of Christ’s
31:38	Ascension and the falling of the Holy Spirit the church has been out proclaiming good news good news that as
31:46	it was in the beginning it will be again that what we lost will be restored all
31:53	because Christ has bled and died for our sins suffered in our place reconciled us to
32:01	God and he has promised that hence when he returns in glory to judge the living
32:06	and the dead he will create a new heavens and a new Earth not in six days but in one glorious day
32:14	and we are all invited in fact we’re more than invited each of you the reason
32:21	why you’re here today otherwise I don’t know why you’re here you believe in Jesus
32:26	you trust in him the one who is good who is true who is loving and merciful and
32:33	kind he knows your sin you know your sin as well and yet he is not satisfied to give you
32:41	the consequences of your sin by sending you to hell instead he has forgiven you washed away
32:48	your sins in the waters of baptism given you the Holy Spirit to convict you of your sin and he’s given you his word to
32:55	continue to assure you and give you confidence that in him there is forgiveness and life and that when he
33:01	returns in glory you have nothing to fear from him you have everything instead to look forward to and the rest
33:08	and the restoration of paradise that we had lost and so we find
33:14	the Apostle Peter in our epistle text today our second text and he’s preaching
33:22	men of Israel hear these words Jesus of Nazareth a man attested to you by God
33:27	with Mighty works wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst as you
33:34	yourselves know this Jesus delivered up according to the definite plan and the
33:41	foreknowledge of God listen to those words was it an accident that Jesus was on the cross
33:48	that was according to plan I remember a few years ago preaching
33:54	during Holy Week on a good Friday and using an illustration from an 80s television show
34:02	that I overwatched when I was a kid The A Team right Hannibal he always had the
34:08	saying he said I love it when a plan comes together there’s Christ hanging on the cross for
34:14	your sins and for mine and it was all according to plan Peter here on the day
34:19	of Pentecost affirms this he was delivered up according to the definite plan and the foreknowledge of God
34:25	because God is busy working to this day to save you to save me
34:35	but then he says these words you crucified and killed

34:46	I always think that was initially I thought this was really unfair of Peter come on
34:51	the day of Pentecost Christ was crucified 50 days before this
34:56	how many people there at Pentecost that he’s preaching to were in the crowd when
35:02	Jesus was on trial saying crucify him crucify him a handful a dozen maybe 20 I don’t know
35:10	what the number is but there was people from all over the Mediterranean world and the Roman Empire there on the day of
35:17	Pentecost and they weren’t there when Jesus was on trial
35:22	how is it that he can say these words you delivered him up according to the
35:28	definite plan and foreknowledge of God it’s actually quite simple when Adam and Eve sinned did you sin
35:36	if you say no you got this wrong you see Adam and Eve’s sin Adam’s sin in
35:42	particular is held against you you’re responsible for what he did
35:49	so am I his sin is my consequence we’re all suffering
35:56	for it in the same way then Christ when he was put on the cross all of the
36:03	people in the crowd who were shouting crucify him they were our stand-ins
36:08	doesn’t matter if you were there or not he said well I was born like 2000 years later it doesn’t matter if you were
36:14	there on that Friday in the morning you would have been screaming at the top of
36:20	your lungs crucify Christ you and I are all guilty of the death of
36:26	Christ because it’s our sin your sin my sin that put him on the cross that’s the
36:32	point that Peter is making so we are all guilty of crucifying our God crucifying our savior Jesus but God
36:42	raised him up losing the pangs of death because it was not possible for him to be held by it
36:47	David says concerning him I saw Yahweh always before me he’s at my right hand
36:52	so that I may not be shaken therefore my heart was glad my tongue rejoiced my
36:58	flesh also will dwell in Hope for you will not abandon my soul to
37:03	Hades or let your Holy One see corruption you have made known to me the paths of life and you will make me full of
37:09	gladness in your presence David here is prophesying of Christ in his death that his body would not see
37:17	corruption and all of this is because Christ’s gladness is our forgiveness
37:24	Christ’s Joy is our being reconciled to Father Son and Holy Spirit whom we have
37:31	sinned against and it is his great joy that we are forgiven and pardoned and will with our own eyes with our own ears
37:39	with our own hands and tongues and voices experience
37:44	the world as it was always meant to be because of what he’s done for us
37:50	so Peter says Brothers I say to you with confidence about the patriarch David he both died and was buried his tomb is
37:56	with us to this day the thing that being there for a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an
38:02	oath to him that he would set one of his Descendants on his throne he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the
38:07	Christ that he was not abandoned to Hades nor did his flesh see corruption this Jesus God has raised up and of that
38:14	we are all Witnesses being therefore exalted at the right hand of God and having received from the Father the
38:20	promise of the Holy Spirit he has poured out that you yourselves are seeing and hearing the holy spirit for David did
38:26	not Ascend into the heavens but he himself said the Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand until I make your
38:32	enemies a footstool so let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain let
38:37	all of you in Kong’s finger joining us online wherever you are know for certain that God has made Jesus both Lord and
38:45	Christ this one whom we have crucified by our sin
38:50	but know therefore now when they heard this all the people were cut to the heart and they said to Peter and the
38:56	rest of the Apostles Brothers what shall we do and Peter said to them repent be
39:01	baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the Forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of
39:07	the holy spirit for the promise the promise of the Salvation the promise of the Forgiveness of your sins the promise
39:13	of eternal life the promise of the gift of the holy spirit it’s for you it’s for
39:19	your children all who are far off and everyone whom the Lord God calls to himself
39:25	so brothers and sisters rejoice in this fact today God has called you
39:32	God has called you out of Darkness into life he has called you out of sin he’s
39:37	called you out of slavery he has called you he has forgiven you he has washed
39:43	away your sins he’s given you the gift of the Holy Spirit God the Father God the son God the holy spirit is not
39:50	content in letting you perish eternally he has done everything possible so that you can be forgiven you
39:59	are part of the called God the father has called you and so note then we are saved from this
40:06	crooked generation and rejoice then in the great gifts that you have received from Christ and take solace and comfort
40:13	in the fact that our God father Son and Holy Spirit has done so much to restore
40:20	us to what we lost all because of Christ in the name of Jesus Amen
